Hillside Sunset
Standing in the balcony of my apartment in the hilly area of Shiroda, Goa, sipping on a masala chai, I saw the sun go down and as it went down its rays were bent by the surrounding fog on that cool winter evening. I thought to myself, a great photo opportunity. Shot with a Nikon D3 and a Nikon 80-200 mm f2.8 lens at f8.
Lokotsav – The varied colours of India
I was saving this post for the Republic Day but I got so busy with work that I had no time to work on the images and upload to my blog.
Lokotsav was an event showcasing all the different cultures in India. It was held at Campal, Goa and I happened to find out about it while I was on vacationing in Goa. I missed most of the event but I got the last hour or so of the event on the last day. There was also an exhibition where you could buy handicrafts etc. (where my wife and I spent most of our time…), but the stage show included folk music, folk dances and other performances by artists and dance troupes from all over India.
These drummers from Karnataka put on a great show drumming different rhythms away.
The troupe from Rajasthan
These guys were a tribal dance troupe from Bhuj, Gujarat. Although it looks African, it is a tribal Gujarati dance. The climax of the show was a man breaking a coconut on his head by throwing it up in the air and jumping to hit it with his head.
Face paint depicting different wild animals.
Wonderland
Riding my bike through Loutolim, Goa, I saw the sun peering through the trees and I just knew I had to stop and capture the moment. The smoke of burning firewood from the nearby hut, the yellow glow of the sun and the reflections off the lake made the scene almost magical like a scene from Alice in Wonderland.
